Just My Kind Of Luck

So Friday I was sitting in traffic, minding my own business, dancing to my new CD and then I noticed the driver of the car behind my with his hand on his head looking all aghast get out of his car start to approach mine, he stopped to look at the front of his car and the rear of mine. He had hit me and I hadn't really even noticed! The light had turned green, I had started to go but the car in front of me stopped so I stopped and the driver behind me did not. My rotors are so bad that I thought the hit was the part of the vibration of my car stopping!
My car has a some minor damage--the big white "Scuff" is a break in the bumper where the fiberglass is pushed in and broken on three sides but still attached on one side (like a little door) and then of course there is cracking and peeling in the paint.

His car on the other hand was totally crunched! You can see all the antifreeze flowing down the street from his punctured radiator and the big crack running from the bottom front corner of the headlight goes all the way across the car. There was a police car stuck in traffic about 3 cars behind so the responded to the accident. And now I'm playing phone tag with his insurance company--Super fun but at least no one was injured.

Monday morning I was driving to work and a rock the size of my palm flew into my windshield sending circular fissures like ripples on a pond across it. So, guess what I'm getting for Christmas-hurray and new windshield! So that's how it works with me--one thing after another!

Tagged by Jen-- 7 Random or Weird Things

I know this tag was a month ago but I was busy and then lazy so here you go--out there for the world to know ;)

1.) I only write in blue ink. I hate black ink--my hand writing is so much prettier in blue and it's more aesthetically pleasing to me. (I know what you're thinking--this past year if you've received something written it might have been in black. Last year I got a really nice pen from my boss for Christmas and it had black ink in it--I didn't want to be wasteful so I've been working my hardest to write everything with this pen to use up the ink so I could order a blue refill. Well YEA at last the black is FINALLY gone and I put my new BLUE refill in and the world is right once again!!)

2.) My favorite colour is grey--yep that's right grey, most any shade, I love it.

3.) I love grey rainy days. The colours of the trees and grass and, well, everything is so much more vibrant next to grey. I love the smell of rain and the sounds and the way the world just comes alive in the rain. Puddle jumping and watching lightning are some of the best ways to spend an afternoon.

4.) I have really recessive eyes and my pupils are not round so they let light light in oddly--most any light hurts. I can't be outside without sun glasses. I'm a terrible night driver because of the contrast of dark and light on the headlights and street lights--sometimes I even wear sunglasses when I watch movies at the theatre.

5.) I love the 1920's-30's, the history, fashion, music, movies, developments and technologies. I think we should still wear gloves and hats, do the West Coast Swing, Lindy, Shag and Quick Step, read Fitzgerald, watch G.B. Shaw productions and tell our children the stories of Winnie the Pooh. I just love this time period. Don't get me wrong--I'm thankful for Tampons and Dishwashers, improved Tuberculosis treatment and better human rights laws, but I do love the 1920's-30's.

6.) Since I was 16 I've read The Book Of Mormon at least twice a year, Jesus the Christ (Talmage) and the New Testament once a year and the Old Testament every other year. For every 2 secular books I read one religious book and at least every other set of three books I read a "Classic" (A Title that is a 100 years or older and still in print). I love to read and the genres vary.

7.) My finger nails and hair grow REALLY fast. I can shave my head and in 3 1/2 - 4 years I'm sitting on it. I cut my finger nails every three weeks or so--they're 1/4 - 1/2 inch past my finger at that point--Crazy

I hope these were random enough to be interesting--I'm kind of reserve and boring--and I didn't come with a lot of interesting quirks but there you have it, 7 random or weird things about me.

A Little Celebratory Vandalism

For the first time I did not participate in the destruction--
however I couldn't help but document it
Levi and Mandee didn't even have to deal with it. They took Trish's car and left the driving and cleaning to Trish and Nancy (Mandee's good friend and Mom)

A Few Quick Snippits of the Wedding

The bride and groom were'nt the only ones getting some action!
Were there is dirt--there is a little boy

Mom and Dad
(you can see around his eyes, he is very nearly smiling in this picture--did hell freeze over?)

THE USUAL SUSPECTS:

Grandma, Jamino and Grandpa
The Demars, Linda, Jake and John Wilson

Joe, Damon and John
The Lemires
Evan and Jessica Toleman
When we were in the sealing room the moms were sitting next to each other pointing out who's who from each others side of the family/friends list; when they got to Evan and Jessica they both got kinda blank expressions and could not figure out who they belonged to-LOL! Jamino hired Evan a few years ago to work at the Layton Cricket store, well, when Levi started working there they became friends. Then Evan lived at our house for almost a year until he married Jessica. He also went on Vacation with Levi and Jake to Costa Rica. So he's been in the "Fam" for a couple of years now and we just love him--and Jessica!

Dispite all the beauty it was freezing and as soon as the Photographer dismissed us--
we were GONE!

The Party

I know, I know--I take so long to post!! Well be happy I do it at all :) So, as previously mentioned I threw Levi and Mandee and wedding shower on All Hallows Day. I was fantastic. I of course owe it all to Katie and Jamino showing up to help. From the time they arrived they immediately went to work finishing the decorating, preparing food and in general, keeping me nice and calm. We sent the invitations to 90 head-of-households or individuals+"guest" and a whopping 5 people RSVP'd so I really had no idea how to plan for the party. We moved all the furniture out so there was lots of room and then decorated from third floor down to basement. In all we had about 40 some people trickle through the house all evening. It was funny because one group would come visit, leave and then another group would come--it was great. So here are a ton of pictures--as usual!Me, Levi and Katie at the start of the night
We had lit candles everywhere, I don't think the house had ever seen a bigger fire hazard but it all looks amazing--if I do say so myself!

Mountains of FOOD, I ordered 4 trays of croissant sandwiches, 4 trays of deli meats and cheese, and three cakes. We had 15 lbs. of fresh veggies (broccoli, carrots, snap peas, grape tomatoes, and small sweet peppers) 5 lbs of ranch dip, 2 large trays of shrimp (which I forgot to thaw and people still ate frozen--GROSS), 5 lbs of tootsie rolls, 3.5 lbs of sweetish fish, 7 lbs of skittles and mike and ike and 5 lbs of Boston baked beans. Then Katie made 6 dozen eggs worth of deviled eyes, Nickie brought two large cookie sheets worth of cucumber sandwiches, Selina brought two cookies worth of mint Brownies, Mandee made 2 seven layer dips with chips and Barb Gold brought a giant cooler/thermos of drink mix. When I went to pickup the ordered food they had their Halloween cakes on sale so of course I got 2 more. The list goes on but suffice it to say we had enough food to feed a small army! Thanks to all those who brought their specialities and thanks for all those who helped us eat it all!

Levi and Mandee got some great gifts--after all it was a shower so we had to include gift opening! Here they are opening the DeWalt drill that Levi's coworkers got them-YEA!
We had some creative costumes; Here's Barb, she came as a wallet--specifically Donald Trump's wallet (Jeff came as the Donald). We had football fans, John McCain and Sarah Pallen, both male and female pirates, a nudest on strike,am M&M, a face book page, disco chick and more!

Onlookers during present time.
The Liberty Lake Crowd

The upstairs dressed up as a mid evil castle and the downstairs decided to be a graveyard
Harley of course came as himself--a naughty little devil
And the band played all night long
Jamino flew in Friday (Halloween) afternoon and since we weren't sure he was gonna make it home before the party we didn't have a costume for him so he decided to dress up as a Mexican. I missed it but I'm told that he even did a little dance!
Mandee and Levi went all out on their costumes! Super cute couple that they are.
We even took the closet doors and made additional scenes
Thanks to all who came, helped, loaned me things and accepted assignments for this party without which it wouldn't have been so great!

The Halloween Wedding Shower Prep

I'm throwing a shower for Levi and Mandee, above is the info if I missed you when sending out invitations.

The decorating has begun but I have a long way to go! Here's half the band for the Party.

We remove all possible furniture so there is as much room as possible for people. Here we've emptied a closet and removed the door to make cemetery just across from the bathroom.

We're going for a medieval Glam Halloween Wedding theme--should be fun!

Faces

Katie always post pictures of the funny faces her boys make . . . So I thought I would gift you all with the privilege of the funny faces I get to see at my house.
Can you believe he's getting married in a week (November 7th)
Crazy

Levi--Where's your noseGood Boy!

He ran out of looks after this one and started repeating himself so there you are the many faces of Levi!

That's Why "They" Call it The Ghetto!

So, I've lived in Utah now for just over 6 years and 3 of those years was in an apartment in Rose Park. It's a little older community, smaller built in the 30's-50's homes. Mostly retired couples, young families and an even split of Caucasian and Latino residence. People often look down their nose at Rose Park residence and refer to it as more or less a Ghetto (not that Utahan's have any real concept of a Ghetto, but for all intense and purposes Rose Park is theirs). While living there I found the neighbors to be kind, the yards to be well kept, the shop and restaurants to be hospitable and all in all, safe and relatively respectable. Well . . . Last week to celebrate two coworkers birthdays the 4 members of my department went to lunch at The Red Iguana. (One of my favorite places!) which happens to be in Rose Park. After a fantastic lunch we all returned to my car to find the back row of seats folded down and stuff scattered throughout the car. Here's my nearly empty trunk. They stole my GOLF CLUBS!! and Sun Mountain push cart and brand new (used 4 times) Birthday Present a $300 Taylormaid Driver. My favorite (had for 15 years) Scottish Cashmere sweater. The netting trunk thing that came with my car along with it's contents (oil, transmission fluid, first-aid kit, flashlight) and Jamino's Gout prescription. They apparently did not like my taste in music as my CDs were still there.

So I'm really devastated!! Golf is what Jamino and I do together. And I just got my driver. Here's my last shot with my new Driver on October 18th. I'm really sad! Total replacement cost for everything stolen (everything the same--no upgrades) $1,285. So I quess it'll be a little while before I'm golfing again. SO RUDE!
