That's Why "They" Call it The Ghetto!
So, I've lived in Utah now for just over 6 years and 3 of those years was in an apartment in Rose Park. It's a little older community, smaller built in the 30's-50's homes. Mostly retired couples, young families and an even split of Caucasian and Latino residence. People often look down their nose at Rose Park residence and refer to it as more or less a Ghetto (not that Utahan's have any real concept of a Ghetto, but for all intense and purposes Rose Park is theirs). While living there I found the neighbors to be kind, the yards to be well kept, the shop and restaurants to be hospitable and all in all, safe and relatively respectable. Well . . . Last week to celebrate two coworkers birthdays the 4 members of my department went to lunch at The Red Iguana. (One of my favorite places!) which happens to be in Rose Park. After a fantastic lunch we all returned to my car to find the back row of seats folded down and stuff scattered throughout the car.
Here's my nearly empty trunk. They stole my GOLF CLUBS!! and Sun Mountain push cart and brand new (used 4 times) Birthday Present a $300 Taylormaid Driver. My favorite (had for 15 years) Scottish Cashmere sweater. The netting trunk thing that came with my car along with it's contents (oil, transmission fluid, first-aid kit, flashlight) and Jamino's Gout prescription. They apparently did not like my taste in music as my CDs were still there.
So I'm really devastated!! Golf is what Jamino and I do together. And I just got my driver. Here's my last shot with my new Driver on October 18th. I'm really sad! Total replacement cost for everything stolen (everything the same--no upgrades) $1,285. So I quess it'll be a little while before I'm golfing again. SO RUDE!

8 Things that happened today: Went to lunch with the office girls, conducted a manager meeting, did the power point for the meeting, scraped ICE from my car windows, finally faxed my refi paperwork, slept in 1/2 an hour, had string cheese for breakfast, wore jeans to work cause my boss is out of town.
8 Things I'm looking forward to: Moving to Reno, taking a nap, Levi's Halloween Shower, Sky diving with Jake, not living paycheck to paycheck, having a clean house, the 2nd Coming, visiting with Jamino.
8 Things on my wish list: Vespa, better bathroom (with a seperate shower, radiant floors and jetted soaker tub), Kerry Blue, wood floors, traveling the world, boobs, kids, a degree.
8 People I'm Tagging-- okay I'm not tagging anyone cause the whole 4 people's blogs that I look have already done this Tag.

Lazy Snickerdoodles
So in my office we're having a "Biggest Loser" contest and my house is full of healthy food right now and I'm just tired of healthy and wanted a splurge. I found a yellow cake mix in my food storage so I decided to make my favorite fast cookies.
If you know me at all then you already know that I hate to bake--but these are just so quick and easy--Even I'll make them on occasion. They're yellow cake mix snicker doodles.
All they take is:
PLaying Catch Up Again
So here's another catch up post--the only way I do them :) So for the last 9 weekends I've been very busy. My company sponsored a visit from the Declaration of Independence, then Jamino's sister Janai and her Daughter Jaime came for a visit (Jaime is going to college in Rexburg so they flew into Salt Lake for a few days before borrowing the car and driving up to Idaho). Then Janai was back the next weekend on her way home to Valdez AK. The next weekend my sister and her kids came for some over-stimulation, then the weekend after that I went to Reno to visit Jamino (courtesy of Jamino's Boss). Finally, I thought I'd have a quite weekend to myself and then my mom called and said she was driving down to Rexburg to visit Katie, well it's only 3 hours from me so how could I not drive up for the weekend! So it's now the second weekend of October and I'm finally getting a breather--but only just a little. November 1st I'm throwing a Jack Jill Halloween wedding shower--So now I've gotta get the house ready for Halloween!
Here's Harley--thought I might as well throw him in here too--
Ghost Ronin trying to convince his mom that he should get to stay up and watch us play Wii (he didn't win.
My camera was on night mode--oops so these shots are blurry. But here's Katie,
and mom
And Mom again.
This was such a fun weekend. We just chatted all night and watched confrence, two movies, went to lunch and played the Wii. We had a blast.
A Nevada Visit
Jamino’s boss called him one day and out of the blue said that he was going to give Jamio a gift. He bought me plane tickets to go out and visit. So two weekends after Katie’s visit I went out to Reno/Carson. Jamino and I had such a great time. We found some wonderful independently owned restaurants to frequent. We drove the 20 miles to Tahoe and took a evening “Booze Cruise” on a sailboat—it was gorgeous. Being out on the lake was so refreshing, soothing, and peaceful; the stresses I had acquired over the last several months just melted away.
The beach 20 minutes from where Jamino lives
It's a fully functioning beach that rents kayaks, paddle boats, jet skis, and ski boats. On the beach are huge grass shade umbrellas.
That's the M.S. Dixie, it's a giant paddle boat which does day cruises and dinner/dancing cruises. We'll definitely have to try it sometime!
The water was so clear and the sand was so soft.
That sailboat is the Woodwind II which is the boat we went on.

The water was so calm and there was a light cool breeze.

We had a blast!!

Then the next day we slept in, went to lunch then we took off for San Francisco. 3 ½ hours later we were sitting in traffic waiting to cross the Bay Bridge. The drive was so fast and straight forward I’m really excited to be living so close.

Jamino's first MLB game
Hot dog at the ballpark!
The stadium was packed--it was last weekend of the season
And the San Francisco Giants were playing the LA Dogers.

Jamino's first MLB game
There were tons of Doger Fans since LA is so close.
Isn't the stadium awesome!
Here we are--I'm sporting my new Giants hoodie. I figure if we're gonna live this close we'll have to make it to few games every season. I can't imagine a summer without baseball. And though it' not the Braves it's better than the AAA SLC Bees that we're used to.
We couldn't believe our luck when we saw the line up--we got to see Greg Maddux Pitch! I've been a Maddux fan for years (obviously, cause I'm a Braves fan).
And we got to see Manny Ramirez play--here he is at bat!! Jamino thought he had died and gone to heaven, seeing two legends play--just 25 rows away!!
LA won 2 -1
It was so fun we didn't want to leave
So we walked along the pier behind the stadium for almost and hour--it was beautiful.
To end the weekend Jamino got in trouble. I was commenting on the noises his car was making and I started asking about the regular maintenance that should have been happening. It turns out the oil hadn't been checked or changed in quite some time so I demanded that he check the oil right then and there. IT WAS TOTALLY EMPTY! Just a little sludge. Well I kind of freaked out and Jamino got in trouble but when we went to get the oil changed, we discovered that Walmart can open your head lights and clean all of the cloudy film out and then reseal the head lights. It was amazing--they were so clear! Then we went to see Ghosttown at the theater. Pretty cute movie. All and all an amazing weekend full of fun!
